Tyler told me something at the first Purnell Swett game waaaaaaaaay back on March 14. First, before the game started, he was thinking about the schedule and noticed that our next four games, including that one, were Purnell Swett, Charlotte Christian, Douglas Byrd, and Scotland. At the time, Richmond was only 3-4 and 2 of the 3 wins had come against Terry Sanford and Westover, two of the lowest ranked teams in the MSEC and 2R. He said, if we can break even and win 2 of the next 4 games, I'll be really happy. They won 3 of them. Next he said that it would be almost impossible to get 20 wins this year. That evening, after we defeated Swett (giving us our 4th win), I went home and looked up the schedule and noticed that Richmond only had 15 games left. There wound up being 16, but I didn't realize that they had rescheduled Wesleyan Christian, a game which was called off at the beginning of the season. Thinking there was only 15 games, I figured they'd have to win 1 playoff game plus an additional playoff game for every regular season game they lost from that point on. With 2 Scotland games, 2 Britt games, another Pinecrest game, a Charlotte Christian game, and a Lee County game in front of us, I kind of agreed with his point. Since their were 16 games, Richmond just had to win 1 playoff game for every regular season game they lost. In those last 16 games, they went an amazing 13-3, including winning their last 7 regular season games in a row.
So, with 3 losses, they needed 3 wins. Swett, New Hanover, South View...
Way to go RAIDERS!!!
